Dal Snake Gourd Curry / Paripu Padavalanga Kootu

Ingredients:

1. Toor Dal - 3/4 cup
2. Snake Gourd - 1 cup (chopped)
3. Onion - 1 (chopped)
4. Green Chilly - 4
5. Dry Red Chilli - 2
6. Curry Leaves - 1 sprig
7. Mustard Seeds - 1/2 tsp
8. Cumin seeds - 1/4 tsp
9. Fenugreek seeds - A pinch
10. Coconut - 1/4 cup (finely grinded adding little water)
11. Salt to taste
12. Oil - 2 tbspn

Method:
1. In a pressure cooker add water as required, put the washed dal, green chillies, little salt, turmeric powder and cook 90%
2. Then add the chopped snake gourd to the pressure cooker and cook completely
3. If there is any excess water in the cooker, drain away
4. Heat oil in a small kadai
5. Splutter mustard seeds, cumin seeds, fenugreek seeds, red dry chillies and curry leaves for tempering
6. Then add the onions and saute well
7. Put the cooked dal and snake gourd in low flame
8. Add the grinded coconut to the dal
9. Finally add the tempering and mix well
10. Allow it to boil slightly and off the stove
11. Put salt as required
Serve hot wit plain rice
