Ingredients:
1. Green Gram / Cherupayar - 1 cup
2. Grated coconut - 1/2 cup
3. Green Chilli - 4
5. Dry Red Chilli - 3
6. Shallots - 5 (thinly chopped)
7. Garlic cloves - 3 (chopped)
8. Curry leaves - 1 sprig
9. Mustard seeds - 1 tsp
10. Turmeric powder - 1/4 tsp
11. Salt to taste
12. Oil - 2 tbsp
Preparation:
1. Wash and clean the green gram. Pressure cooker with little salt and cook till done. Drain away the water and keep aside
2. Heat oil in a pan. Splutter mustard seeds, dry red chilli and curry leaves
3. Put shallots and garlic and fry till they turn golden brown.
4. Add turmeric powder and fry for half minute
5. Now add the grated coconut and fry on low flame for 2 minutes
6. Put the green gram and mix well. Fry for 6-8 minutes
7. Add more salt if needed
Serve hot with plain rice or kanji
